Bonus author's notes: I have the flu and it is affecting my ability to judge whether this is terrible or not. So hopefully it's not.

Really, this sounds just fine. Grumpy sick people do this kind of thing - as well as misunderstood friends/whatevs. And FINALLY things come to a head (so to speak).

Sorry you're unwell. At least your fic is healthy... :P

I feel like this chapter is utilitarian, in that it does what I needed it to do, but just not as well-written as I would like or up to the standard to which I usually hold myself. I thought it would be a good idea to try and finish it up while I was sick (method writing?) except that being this sick means being denied access to a lot of my higher brain function. :P

Still. Onward and upward!

I am so glad that this was posted today. I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow morning and would really have hated to miss the update.

I am also so glad to see them finally talking. Communication and trust are immeasurably important. They have finally started doing the former, which gets Pepper's lack of being able to do that latter out in the open.

I'm glad Tony's "boundary" is not an ultimatum. If he forced her to decide on the spot, he'd probably end up with his heart broken. Pepper needs a chance to process new information--really, Pepper, how did you miss it?--which can hopefully lead to more communcation.

And also all the sex, because the title On My Bed had put incorrect ideas in my head...

You know, I am trying to do a thing here. With artistic prose. And character development. And Feelings. But it's become clear that isn't necessarily what my readers want.

I wish I'd known this before I started, the story could have been a lot shorter, like, Chapter 1: They decide to have sex. Chapters 2-12: Sex. And I would have called it All The Sex.

Lesson learned, I guess?

He touches her neck lightly, brushing his fingertips down and along her shoulder. “Sick, yeah. Not dead.” Tony isn’t even sure if he particularly wants sex-he only knows that he wants to be close to her, and that this is the only type of closeness she’ll allow. He still feels chilled, and he wants to immerse himself in her, in the warmest parts of her.
This is my favorite part of it. It's so sad and he's aware of how sad the situation is but he's still desperate for something.

Also, I love how Tony thought she was pissed about how everyone knew he loved her but she was talking about him lying to her. This says so much about their characters.

“I can’t believe Rhodey told you about that,” he grumbles. “All that guy ever does is cockblock me.”

When I saw your reply (to which I still have to reply), I immediately ran here to see if there indeed was a new chapter (something which I've only been doing every since I discovered your story, or at least every second day...) and maybe it's because I'm sick too, but I loved it! (Despite the missing sex ;P). No really, I loved how it all came out and how cranky, sick Tony reacts and how confused, embarrassed Pepper reacts and...just the whole lot of it. And I look forward to more talking, I'd even look forward to it if there would never be any more sex coming (though it would be a shame ^^)!!
