the day my gyro shop went away

Yesterday morning, as he was dropping me off at class, Erik suggested that we get gyros or sammies when I finished homework. I voted for gyros because it is not as often that we go to Little Chef as we get sammies. Actually I just had a Sammie last week, so I def wanted a gyro. I finished HW around 730, at which I mobiled Erik to pick me up and dinner too. We drove over to Oak street, illegally parked, and went in to what we assumed was Little Chef. We were greeted by the smiling face of an Asian man behind the food. This was a little weird because our gyro guy and his employees tended to be Mediterranean (is that PC?). Then a lady (I’ve never seen a lady behind the counter at Little Chef) came to the register to take our order. Finally I looked up at the menu, and noticed that there were not any gyros, French fries or spinach dishes listed. LITTLE CHEF CLOSED!!!!!! I asked her where our gyro guy was and she said his last day was Saturday. With a frown on my face with a hint of huge disappointment, we walked out and got in the car to drive home. At home we then drank beer and ate the rest of the best beef jerky of my life.
Why do all of the good, non-corporate places on campus have to close? Is there a rule that dictates if you do not sell liquor your business will bust? WTF? I’m so bummed out.
