That whole Kazaa thing really pisses me off. I mean, writes put their novels in libraries, you never hear them complaining? Oh well. I guess, for some people, it's about making money. That's too damn bad.

well, libraries *do* actually buy the books that they lend out, and each branch of a given library system must buy their own copies of a certain title (and they usually buy hardback ones, too). writers don't usually give their books away free to libraries. so, i think writers would have less of an issue with copyright protection than would musicians whose work gets bought once (*maybe*) and then copied thousands (or even millions) of times and sent all over the world to people, most of whom will not go out and buy the album or single.
and you are right, for the big record companies, it *is* all about making the most money possible, and if there are any leaks in their profit scheme (e.g. easily-sharable high-quality audio files), they will attack it like a pit bull on a steak.

ouch! i haven't gotten the scary email yet but, then again, i usually only download weird, hard to get stuff. most of it isn't even on one of the labels that are getting the bug up their asses. fucking RIAA.
