new york was amazing. totally a worthwhile trip, but i think ill keep the california bay.
mostly did touristy stuff. drank one night in a week long trip, so theres how much of a rockstar i am. went to cbgb's, albeit half a year too late to see it in operation. stayed at the hotel chelsea at the request of christina, who has wanted to stay there for about forever. if you are unaware, this hotel is full of rock and roll/literary/druggie ghosts. i mean, this is the hotel where sid fucking stabbed nancy for gods sake. more
here. most memorable moment of the trip is discussed in the following journal entry because i felt as though it deserved its own. empire state building, metropolitan museum of art, bronx zoo, blah blah. had a fucking blast. just wish i had gone to the ucb theater. also, the subway system is fucking beautiful and amazing even if we didnt see the ninja turtles or a single warrior.
one of the elements that i noticed during the trip in myself if my growing distaste for the indie kids. i was never into the scene waay back when it was legit. i certainly rode in on the current of popularity, or at least some undertow before the big wave. i got into it pretty hard i guess and feel like i understood the appeal of it all. however, these fucking whiner kids are driving me batshit crazy.
i was going to write a long rant about the state of the music industry and my feelings on it, but it would be a pretty standard "im getting old and simultaneously starting to appreciate older things" affair. so goodnight.
