can some please explain to me, once and for all, what the advantages of having a threadless headset over a threaded one are? because my current bike has a threadless and i just find it more of an annoyance to have to deal with than my threaded ones ever were.

structurally stronger and therefore safer. just curious, what kind of issues are you having?

there's a strange popping in the headset that i think's attributable to a improperly-set crown race... i think it's a 27mm headset and the fork itself is 26mm? i'm not entirely sure, except i get this obnoxious pop when i put pressure on the fork a certain way or brake very hard...

but that's super good to know!
