andy starr -- i wanna go south (mp3) i'm home! in virginia! thank fucking god. being back in the countryside is already filling me up with abundant joy. the landscape is speaking to me in new ways, and as i stepped out of the car last night there were so many stars i couldn't help but says "holy shit." orion! the milky way! brighter than i've seen them in months.
my mom is filling me up with lots of local organic food and got me all the vegan staples i need to stay happy/healthy. this morning we were looking through the audobon society's field guide to northeastern birds to identify the birds playing in our yard, and we went on a walk to look at the pear and plum and apple trees my parents pruned (and, oh, the largest blue jay i've ever seen just landed on the picnic table to my left. one of the cats looks interested). the sheep are happy and when you're outside, amongst the wonderful quiet and solitude of the landscape, you can hear their bells dinging in the distance. i went down to the pond today -- the beavers seem to be in hibernation already -- and heard a family of turkeys off in the woods. my parents are endowing me with around 50 daffodil and paperwhite bulbs to plant in covert places around the city when i get back, and i'm also packing up with a whole suitcase full of pumpkins and squashes.
this is great. and wonderful. i wish all my friends could be here!
and hey, kimmie :D
