Well, I would say that matter creates gravitational pull. There's the same amount of matter in the universe now as there always has been, so the gravitational pull between two objects has always existed. It may change based on the positioning of objects, but it was never really "created."
Well, matter moves in space, and so is "guided" by paths in space. That last line is actually a quote by somebody, but I don't care enough to give proper credit.
