Yesterday I finally finished my drawing homework. What were originally going to be 8 - 10 inked illustrations with an ink wash became 4 inked illustrations. Oh well, that's what happens when you set high goals with blatant disregard to any other finals you have coming up.

For those of you who don't know remember, my plan was to show a bunch of zombies incorporated into everyday events, basically pushing the issue of America's ignorance and apathy for its surroundings (both environmentally and politically). While I had originally planed to go with the whole "atomic family" theme, I strayed a bit and added a piece depicting a civil rights protest.

Well, after "class" (lab is a piece of shit) yesterday I trudged up to 20th street to meet yamheads  so we could work on-slash-finish our illustrations. If I haven't mentioned this before, she is an amazingly talented artist, and you should all check out her work here and here.

I got to Yasmin's at a quarter to three and we pretty much worked for nine hours straight, with a short break in which we consumed roughly our body weights in pasta.

I'll post the pictures as soon as I get a chance. (The zombie pictures, that is, not my body weight in pasta -- though I drew a picture of that, too!)

I finally headed home around 2 a.m. I decided to walk down 5th Ave. and lo and behold, there were riots in the streets in front of the New School (yes, that's my school's actual name) headquarters. All of the New School buildings were shut down for security reasons, since one of our school trustees is the head of L3 (ironic, no?), and also Bob Kerrey (the politician) stepped in as our president after Obama asked our old President to join his cabinet in Washington!  Effectively making Kerrey both president AND provost. Well, apparently he got a 98% no-confidence vote from the staff and students of the New School, but he is refusing to back down. There were tons of police and rioting, and I just happened to be walking home when Kerrey was being chased down the block by a rowdy group of protesters, with security guards and po-po in tow.

I’ll get those zombie pictures up soon…
But right now I'm packing.
Home in > 24 hours!
