I went to see James Bond: Measure of Sadness on opening night. Those idiots at the ticket booth sold me a senior ticket, because maybe only old grandpas are senile enough to put pirate hats on their heads and pretend the escalator is a bewitched staircase from beyond the seven seas. In any case, the ticket collector (read: huge angry bouncer) was having none of that and sent me downstairs to get an adult ticket. While I was down there I found a swarm of people trying to get refunds because their theater was overbooked. Ooh boy, they were mad as wasps (so I drew a pictue of a wasp holding a pair of tickets and shaking his little wasp fist)!

Anyhoo, the movie was awesome! Jack White wrote the opening theme song, and sang it with Alicia Keys. Zomg soo kewl! No, I was actually really impressed. As far as the movie goes, it didn't really bring anything new to the table. Don't get me wrong -- I loved it, there were just a lot of  "Jason Bourne" moments. One thing I really liked was that although this was basically a sequel to Casino Royale, there were no flashbacks. I thought they played it really well considering all the opportunities they had to make the movie uber-cheesy and sappy. Also, just 'cause I'm a film snob, I'm going to put this out there: I think they need a different editor. There were a lot of scenes that, while trying to be fast paced, just came out choppy. The ending didn't leave me with any excitement, whatsoever. It was an odd silence (internally, not literally) that I feel could have been avoided with a little improved editing.

Wow. Reading this back, it sounds like I just didn't like the movie. Dang -- I really did, though. Go see it.
