I just want to take a moment to appreciate the master Hitchcock here. So the introduction of Lisa Fremont in Rear Window is totally genius (and not only for that opening shot, you know the one). “Reading from top to bottom” notice the camera movement. A following pan out from also, “top to bottom” as she moves about the room turning on the lamps with the telling of each name. It’s a subtle camera move but is so effective in presenting Lisa’s character, significance and elegance.
