Dear Dr. Gwynn R. Patterson, OB/GYN (Sierra Vista, AZ),
Thank you for making my wife cry. You have all the personality and compassion of a socket wrench. After making us wait an hour and seeing NO ONE, you come briskly in and quickly and mechanically perform a sonogram. You made no attempt to allow my wife to see what you are doing, in fact, you deliberately blocked her view. You explained nothing. When you finally finished with your measurements, you gave a quick single pass allowing my wife to finally see the child she carries in her womb. "Here's the head, here's the heart, I can't tell what the sex is, there's a leg." Then the lights came on and you shuffled us out. No pictures. No attempt to actually determine the gender. No apology or explanation for the delay in your arrival. I treat my coffee bean grinder with more affection than you treat your patients.
You made my wife cry. You caused my baby to be bathed in the hormones of sorrow and the stress of despair. I truly wonder what that does to the developing brain of an unborn child. I guess we shall see.
Sincerely,
Mark Hinkle
