Happy and Glorious Ascension Thursday!
The homily at last night's Vespers Divine Liturgy was really good. I extracted something from it that wasn't explicitly stated. Father said that we are already partly in Heaven; we have one foot in the door. But, I thought of something. We take communion. We Catholics believe it is the real body of Christ and His presence. We consume His body and it is made part of our own. Christ is fully in Heaven and we, having Christ now a part of us, are also partly in heaven (John 17:21 is relevant, here). This cannot be accomplished unless the bread and wine are the real body and presence of Christ.
I feel sorry for the Protestants. I am partway to Heaven, already, but they remain separated.
