last night we went to the center of town to watch the germany-italy world cup game with all the other germans. the square was filled and it was very exciting, until the last two minutes of overtime when italy managed to score two points and win. i'm probably biased, but during the game it seemed like germany was the better of the two teams so the final result was a bit dissapointing. i have a few videos i took in the main square of the crowd. watching it with everyone definately made the game more exciting, but football is a fairly interesting sport to watch anyway.

here's a video of the crowd last night. it was groovy. more to come later.

i started working at RCOM yesterday. also more on this later. now i'm off to autoclave some samples. wheee!

edit: the people in the above picture are fellow summer students tom, pam, jeff, and alyssa. we couldn't bring any beer into the area where everyone was watching the game (they were selling beer inside), so we were forced to drink it all very quickly in order to catch the second half.
