I dreamed of my father. I'm not homesick, but I often dream of Japan these days. It was my father who advised me to study abroad.
When I had to decide what to do after graduation from my high school, my father told me to let's take a walk. I agreed because I had nothing to do, and I like taking a walk. We went to a restaurant near a train station, and after we got beverages, he started talking. He said, "Kosuke, what are you going to do after graduation?" I was not sure. Although I had to decided it, I had no idea what I wanted to do. Actually, I wanted to do many things because I was interested in a lot of stuff, but I couldn't choose one. I said, "Well, I'm going to a technical college or something because I don't want to take exams to go to a university." It seemed my father was thinking about something, and he said, "I think you should go to a university because it will be a good experience," but I said, "Don't you know my grades? They are too bad. I don't think I can go to any university with my grades." Suddenly, he said, "You don't have to go to a university in Japan." I thought he was joking because all grades of my English classes were 3 (which means "C" in America), and I couldn't speak any English. Because I thought he was kidding, I said, "Oh, that's a good idea. I will do it," because I like unique things; studying abroad is not so popular in Japan yet. My father stood up and said, "I listened to it. I always support you." When I got home, I told my mother that I was going to study abroad. I wanted to force myself because I'm so weak and tend to change my mind easily. She didn't believe me first because she really knew what my English grades were, but she immediately noticed that I was serious, and she also promised me that she supports me too.
This is the real story. I have written about this many times in classes, but I don't think my American friends had known this.
oops, I have to study now cuz I have a psychology test tomorrow!
