Songs du jour

Ok, so I have a problem with obsessing over songs. This infatuations usually last a couple of weeks, so here's what's on repeat right now.

So first off is "Play with FIre" by The Rolling Stones. The first time I really heard this song was when I saw the movie "The Darjeeling Limited". If you've seen that movie you probably remember it from the scene when the brothers finally get to the Indian convent where their mother is leaving. Anyways, it's a really great song, and it's pretty simple, which I like.

I've been told that this song is being played to death on the radio but since I don't listen to the radio...well, I guess it hasn't gotten on my nerves. The song is "Help I'm Alive" by Metric. I have to say I'm not really a big fan of Metric. Most of the stuff I've heard by them really isn't my cup of tea. Anyways, the video for this song was on The Wedge one night and it caught my eye. I really like the beat of this song and it's got some good guitar going on. I really love the opening and closing minutes of the song, all the stuff in the middle i could take or leave but it's a pretty solid song.

So this is another case of me watching Much Music late at night and seen a cool video. "Heads Will Roll" by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs has been my dance choice of late. Not to say that it's a dance song, cause it's not (though again, it's got a good beat). I haven't listened to too much Yeah Yeah Yeahs, I like them but I've found their earlier album are really rough. "It's Blitz", their new album has a way more polished feel. Now usually when my favorite bands clean up their sound I get pretty upset but I think with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, it really works. This song is amazing as is the video.

Alright, this is the song I've been playing to absolute death. "Two Weeks" by Grizzly Bear was a real lucky find for me. My best friend put it on a mix cd for me and as a result I haven't been able to get through the rest of the cd cause I just keep replaying this one song. Everything about this song works for me. I'm in love with the singers voice, I love the arrangement, especially the opening piano. I dunno, this is just one of those songs that totally got me out of know where and I defiantly recommend you take a listen.

yeah yeah yeahs, metric, song reviews, music, the rolling stones, grizzly bear
