2011 Sketch #5 and #6

I posted these images yesterday on my Deviant Art sight, but never got to getting them setup here. 0_0' So here's the gist of it.

Now, I know I promised a lot of sketches, but I really didn't want to show all the doodles that brought this idea about. Tons and tons of little scribbles that I considered a waste of your time to see.

Anyway, as you may have guessed, I don't just do cute illustration work. I come from a family with a very deep carpentry background, and my mind likes to tinker with concepts a lot.

One of those concepts is "what can I make that better suites my artistic studio needs?". Well, I present to you a simple idea for the ultimate in illustration and graphic design art studio furniture. I call it "The P". Mainly because it's shaped like a sort of "P" or maybe more of a "D". Either way, it's my creative solution to wanting to keep everything within a turn of the ol' swivel chair.

After some tweaking and a little time spent in Adobe Illustrator, this is what I came up with.

Pros:
It provides a place where you can work on illustrations, computer graphics, etc. without ever having to remove yourself from the work flow.

Cons:
Clean, sleek, and the size of an M1 Abrams tank. Yeah. I could get it to fit in my room, but there wouldn't exactly be enough space for anything else. 100" x 100" (8.33' x 8.33', or 254 cm x 254 cm for my metric friends out there). The room this is going to be in better be centered around studio alone, or pretty dang big for it to fit in without much notice. Looks like it's back to the drawing board when it comes to this little mind teaser of a project. The section I'd like to put it in can really only be 80" x 48". Not quite within the design specs of this bad boy. ^__~

So there you have it. Hours and hours of time spent on thinking this thing up. That's how I like to waste my day.
