Week 16 of the New Years Goals

Apr 28, 2010 15:16

This past Saturday, I had a BLAST with my buddy Joe. We headed to Chicago to go to Solider Field (home of my beloved Chicago Bears) and attended the Chicago Bears Expo. :D GREAT DAY!!! Even with me missing 5 extra point kicks on the field, it was a blessing of a day. I got to see quite a few Bears players (young and old), hear some hilarious and heartfelt stories, see the home locker room, and get Steve McMichael's autograph. All in all, a wonderful day spent with a fellow football fan. ^__^

Sunday, I got hit by the lack of sleep I've been getting and found myself sleeping until 3:00 PM. I eventually dragged myself from bed with a huge headache, showered, and headed to Angola, Indiana to go to the Hill. God is... well... pretty darn cool. During the sermon, Pastor Fred started to talk about a subject I had been discussing with a friend earlier in the week. I started to think it was sounding pretty familiar, and suddenly Fred used the same phrase I had used. Not a Bible verse even. A DC Talk song title. "Love is a Verb". That friend was there as well and sought me out after the sermon just to make sure I noticed. lol. Like I could have overlooked THAT. :-P Still, very cool, and it's always good to know you're seeing things the right way. ^__^`

Work is still pretty crazy, and it looks like it'll be getting crazier still. Fortunately, I'm taking Friday off so I can rest a bit. I get one free vacation day for my birthday, and since I haven't used it yet, I'll be exercising my benefit towards an extended weekend. Nothing like three days off in a row. ^__^

And now for an update on the goals.

1. Paying off College Early = Well... I still plan on getting college paid off sooner than later, but after reviewing my needed funds vs. available funds... I'm going to have to work 10 hours of overtime every week to get this handled by my original goal's deadline. Not impossible... unlikely, but not impossible. Looks like I'll be here for a while tonight... The good new? I'm looking into finding that inner child that I remember as being more stubborn and unwavering towards his goals than a fly trying to get through a closed window. Headstrong, but courageous in all attempts. :-P

2. Reading the Bible in One Year = Getting better.

3. Good Works in God's Name = Organize people. Not as in organize their lives, but a in get some people together and go help someone. Start with the widows in your church or community. They need help, my friends.

4. Achieve 2nd Degree Brown Belt Status in Sanchin-Ryu = I've switched my home class to Monday nights in Jonesville, MI. This is way easier for me to get to and I'm able to tackle it with a lot more energy. By the time Wednesday rolls around, I'm dead tired, and going to class fresh is a far better thing mentally and physically. Belt promotion on the way. :)

5. Run a Full Marathon = Hopefully, I'll be able to start running outside with plenty of daylight. Possibly more challenging than I'd like to admit since a lot of time will now be focused at work. :(

Side Note = I was out of control last week, and now I've done what I can to get some of that control back. Let's see if I can maintain the focus needed. If I can... Next year I'll be looking to get the car half way paid off, Read the Bible AGAIN, advance to my 1st degree brown belt, and rest from the idea of running another marathon. lol. All in all, the journey has been fulfilling, but the destination should top it off. ^__~

Take Care and God Bless,
Chad
