Had a nice evening out on Friday, saying goodbye to Mike! He's off to New Zealand and we wish him and his family all the best for their trip. Thanks to the internet, it doesn't feel like a final goodbye. And if we ever get back out to NZ we're bound to pay him a visit. Carbon footprint be damned!
Went to see Gran on Saturday. It was nice to see her, we took her round fish and chips for lunch. The fish and chips in Croxley were not a patch on the ones we get from Dorothy's in Bracknell!
After that went shopping in Watford. Lots of dead shops. All the high streets are suffering at the moment, it'll be interesting to see where it all goes from here. We had a walk around Cassiobury Park after that and I found the old tree where we used to play cricket. The mark we made for the top of the stumps has long gone and the tree is a heck of a lot bigger. Aside from that, the park was pretty much as I remembered it from all those years ago. We wandered off to a golf club round the back of the park. I never knew there was a golf club there, so I learnt something new. Even though I spent 7 years trudging through that park to games!
Sunday, did a bit of fence painting. Finally, finally, I'm getting rid of those horrible bring blue trellises in the garden! They'll now be dark oak brown like everything else. Although the blue paint is still shining through the brown at the moment, another coat or two will fix that up.
Sunday night went round Jay and Laura's for a BBQ. Their garden has just been turfed and is looking in good form. Molly the cat was very grumpy, I think it was too hot for her. We chatted about people, shops and work, all very middle class. Fantastic!
