That was a long weekend. Worked from home Thursday, went to Si's Nan's funeral on Friday, played Half-Life 2 Episode 2 on Saturday, went to Crowded House on Sunday. Brr.
The funeral was OK, Si shed a few tears as did most of the people there. The main memory of Peggy was that she was a very amusing, entertaining and warm lady.
HL2 - Episode 2 impressed me (so far! SPOILERS?!?!?) the modified car was good fun, the return of G-Man was a thrill and the new character, Magnusson, is an absolute star. "This is the bomb I designed. It's called the Magnusson Bomb. Not that I wanted them to call it that..."
Crowded House were on absolute top form. I'm very glad Si introduced me to them, I'll always think of them as 'his' band. Their new drummer is blisteringly good and as Si says, they made Wembley Arena feel a very intimate venue. They were more than capable of filling it and making it their own. They even invited us all round to New Zealand next year! And we're going! Hurrah!
The house. Sold out. And. Crowded.
Sorry.
Finn and Seymour. It was Nick Seymour's birthday and they brought a cake with candles on for him and gave him a present to unwrap on stage!
There was a real good mix of old and new songs, plus a few obscurities and album tracks that I'm going to get to know this week. I am really looking forward to the live CD of the concert arriving, many of the tracks they played came across better than the album versions.
We also put up our Christmas Decorations. Various houses in Bracknell have put up huge and terrifying monstrous flashing decorations all over their houses. This year, I decided it was time to compete.
Here's what it looks like from inside:
And here it is from the outside!
Woaaaah boy! Watch out Bracknell!
We also bought a real tree, plus some blue LED's to crown it. It's quite a nice effect, but if you turn the main lights off the tree looks a little grey.
Christmas is coming!
