Post-Man's Patter
It's Friday at last! I took Monday working from home, but this week hasn't really felt much shorter.
It's difficult coming up with new thread ideas for the forum, things that will interest and engage people. On other boards, there are 100's more people or the forum members will be really obsessive, both of which mean you get a regular turnover of new threads. But on Planet Skaro, it's a little different. The people are mostly pretty normal, so you don't get a billion 'RTD Musat DIE!!!' threads starting every 4 minutes. (If you don't believe this happens, then you haven't seen any Doctor Who forums). Not that the people on other forums are strange, I think we're just a little more laid back.
So it's a shame when a good thread idea goes down the pan or fails to ignite in the way you hoped. The board does get a little clogged with 'Last XXX standing' style competitions, or 'Today I...' style threads. In that way, it's very similar to Facebook, where you can easily log your random day-to-day activities and people can look if they're interested, or not.
One of the things I've tried is the 'Friday Poll'. Despite my best intentions, this hasn't become nearly esoteric enough and I have yet to put one out on a day other than Friday - but there's still hope.
Of course, I should focus on what is wonderful about Planet Skaro. Not in small part, that we've recorded our own audio adventures. Look at this! Frankly, they're fantastic, generally very funny too, but the only way to find out is to suck it and see. Or download it and listen. Whatever health and safety think is best. :)
