Not Watching Torchwood

Abandon ship, Captain Jackerino! Torchwood got too hot for me last week, the strange mixture of boredom, horror and occasional moments of brilliance was a heady brew for a time, but there comes a point where you just have to Jack it all in. Look, I know Winston from Ghostbusters is in it tonight, but it's too little, too late. Hell, I wouldn't watch now even if Bill Murray turned up in drag playing the ghost of Tosh. That's how far my faith has been tested.

On the plus side, we watched the first episode of The Hour, which starred Doctor Who. Or at least Ben Whishaw does a damn fine impression of Matt Smith. Freddie Lyon is scripted as a distracted genius with a big mouth, exactly like a certain Time Lord (who may or may not be dead at the end of this series). He's also dressed in Tweed!

The only thing I'd criticise about it is that it took a little while to get going. And the opening scene should have been the dance juxtaposed with the murder - that would have been a much better hook than Freddie rehearsing his speech in the bathroom.

Top of The Pops is brill too. Almost every week we get top tunes from 1976. I thoroughly enjoyed Dr.Hook, Elton John and Kiki Dee, the bizarrely crap Ruby Flipper and all kinds of great stuff. Thin Lizzy were a bit limp though, I thought they were hard rock champions? They were out-rocked by Status 'Bloody' Quo!

Ahhhh... *basks in rays of sunshine world without Torchwood*

ghosts, tv, torchwood, music, doctor who
