And so yay verily etc... lately we've been to Paul Clement's wedding, which was a Sittingbourne treat. A great day and a very nice church, plus we had a good time at the reception. Paul and Treena were happily married and it was an honour to be invited really. The only downer was that Paul and Jody's kids were being a bit of a handful - you can't blame them for youthful exuberance, but it's a pain having your nice tie pulled by a four-year-old.
Perhaps the problem was that I didn't want to give them my full attention. I still get on well with kids, which might be a legacy of my Legoland days, or simply that you can start a conversation by going 'Bleugggghhhhhh!' You can't do this with adults. They assume you're drunk.
The weekend before last we had Annabel to visit on Sunday, while Mark, Vic and Luke went out for Luke's birthday. This went very well too, she was extremely well behaved. We were able to give her our full attention, so she didn't get bored or irritable. And as ever, the best thing is handing the kids back at the end of the day!
Last weekend was trouser-shopping weekend. It's hard to find trousers in the market between jeans and suit trousers. There were some ghastly polyester numbers we looked at and some nice-but-eighty-five-pounds (so not that nice) trousers. Si opted for Corduroy in the end. It's a good, safe bet. What turned out to be neither good nor safe is that they had revised how big a 34" waist is. We have trousers at home that Si can get into that are 34". Yet the trousers he brought on Sunday, which were also 34", were too small. What is with that?
