Things are always more exciting toward the end of the film.

Today was a beautiful day. Joe came over (since I was doing laundry and therefore immobile), we had lunch, and had amazing conversation. A good deal of it was about Judaism and what it means to be Jewish and why/if it matters. The fact that he wanted to have this conversation with me and agreed prior to it not to play devil's advocate just for the sake of it meant a lot. I don't know if it has helped me answer any questions yet, but it certainly helps to put my questions on the table in plain view.

When he went to study with Greg, I went to Oimachi to see Becky, who's moving to India, as I had agreed to take some of her clothes. And I took several bags worth. What I had not agreed to was wine, dinner, cookies, and more amazing conversation!

It's sad in a way, but the fact that so many of my friends are leaving has given me a great opportunity to make the best of our time together. And the fact that they are moving to other (non-permanent) locations is, to me, an indicator that I will see them again. With great mobility comes great flexibility.

It's amazing to think that I'm creating my future nostalgia.
