Intercomm 2011 RAS information

Jan 25, 2011 16:22

Heya, all! There's some new stuff going on with Intercomm this year, most of which was covered at the rules/guidelines/information post, but I'm going to buzz through the highlights again, as well as providing a brief explanation of Intercomm for anyone who wasn't around last year, with the basics in bold for the tl;dr set. :D

Intercomm is a fanfic event in which communities dedicated to a Robin Hood BBC character take part. This year, we've made it into a collaboration instead of a competition; we'll be keeping track of word and fic counts, but only for fun (or for people who wish to be personally competitive ;)).

Prompts are available here, but are not required to be used. Betas are available here (or you can sign up there to be a beta)!

Fic posting is open for one month, and writing for multiple communities is highly encouraged-- in fact, this year we're introducing a ranking system in order to recognize writers who spread the fic love!! :) Also, we've added genre categories to the existing word count categories (explanation of categories here). While fics can obviously only be classified into one word count category, you can post with as many genre category tags as you like-- however, if you choose to enter a fic with multiple genre tags for genre voting (see below for more on that), you have to pick only one of those genres for it to compete in.

Posting opens February 1st and closes February 28th.
--Still, you can start writing now, or use an existing work in progress (or a completed fic!) that hasn't been posted anywhere yet.

After the month of posting has ended, voting is held between fics in each category, and banners are awarded to the winning authors. There will only be one round of voting this year, at Intercomm, and not all fics will be eligible. Instead, writers can select one fic to enter in each of the word count categories, and one fic to enter in the genre category of their choice. Epic short fics, with 5k or more words, can't be entered for genre voting, only for the epic short fic category.

Voting will be held March 7-21.

FOR RAS:

Robin must be the focal character in your fic. If more than one participating character (Allan, Djaq, Isabella, Kate, Little John, Marian, Much, Guy, Robin, Vaizey, Will) is in your fic, use your judgment to decide if Robin's the focal character; if he's not, please post your fic at the appropriate community. (The name links go to the corresponding communities.)

POSTING:

Please use this header on all fics:

Title:
Author:
Word Count:
Rating:
Characters/Pairings:
Spoilers/Warnings:
Summary:
Disclaimer:
If you want to add a line or two, such as for author's notes, that's fine; but please make sure to include all of this information.

Fics need to be behind a lj-cut (headers are outside the cut). See here if you don't know how to do a lj-cut.

TAGGING:

char:__ (all applicable), contributor:__, fic, genre:__ (all applicable), intercomm, length:__, pairing:__ (all applicable), rating:__
>>>--> Also, if episode or season tags are applicable, please use them.
>>>--> If you need a contributor tag, let me know and I'll set one up for you.

If you forget a tag or two, no big deal; they're mainly there to make it easy for readers to find your fics. :) However, make sure to use the intercomm, contributor, genre, and length tags for Intercomm entries! If you don't post with a category tag, you can't enter that fic for voting in that category.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask as a comment to this post (comments are not screened), as a PM to me, or at the Intercomm help post (comments are screened). :)

Have fun, and good luck!!
