He loved her best in the springtime.
In the winter she was distant, her blue eyes haunted and cold.
In the summer he did not see her, there was always something, a dinner with Gisborne, an audience with the Sheriff.
It was not like the summers of their youth spent playing in amongst the forest.
In autumn she was sombre still, all night she was gone, caring for those in need and in the day she slept.
He loved her best in the spring when she lay beside him, hands intertwined as they gazed up at tree tops and sky.
