Alexander brought a letter from his principal home yesterday. It told us that a parent of one of the school's fourth graders committed suicide Tuesday. Since Alex is in the fourth grade, I told him that the student might be someone he knows. He said, "Yeah. It's Olivia B." He has known Olivia B. since Kindergarten. In their Kindergarten class, there was another Olivia (Olivia F.), and even though the Olivias are not in the same class this year, he still calls the Olivia in his current class Olivia B.

Corey found this in today's "Olympian": http://www.theolympian.com/2010/04/14/1205450/olympia-man-identified-after-jump.html.

It's a shame. Olivia is such a bright and beautiful girl, and her mother Julie does a lot of volunteer work at Pioneer Elementary. She was a volunteer for the Passport Club at the same time I was, and may still be.

My heart goes out to his family.

suicide, olivia b.
