This afternoon, I received a phone call from Deanna on her cell phone. She and Lilly had been riding their bicycles to Fred Meyer in Tumwater, and she had lost control of her bike and fallen. She was pretty upset. She said something about a girl going to call a cop, but not returning. She also said something about bleeding and not having a tourniquet. I told her that I was on my way, and that she should hang up and call 911. Victoria agreed to watch the kids while I was gone.
When I got there, the paramedics and police were already on the scene and Deanna's leg was bandaged up. One of the paramedics said she needed stitches, and she didn't want to go to a hospital because of the bill. She wanted to go to a walk-in clinic in Lacey. I agreed to drive her there. The police took the bikes to the Goodyear store nearby, where the workers there agreed to watch them.
I dropped Lilly off at my house to play with the kids, and then we went to the clinic. We were there about two and a half hours. I asked Deanna how many stitches she had, and she said she didn't remember, but about ten.
I needed to get some beef broth at Safeway, and Deanna wanted to get something for Victoria as a thank you for watching Lilly. She called Chris (her husband). He had left work early to go and pick up the bikes and take them home. Then he went to my house to pick up Lilly. He was still there when Deanna called. He said that he would meet us at the Safeway, which he did.
Then I went home.
