Lj is intolerably insane tonight--it's taking minutes to click through to 'reply' to a comment and half the time at the end of all the waiting it says 'cannot display this page'.  THANKS A LOT.  And it's fine out on the Greater Web, so this is just lovely lj.
        So I'll try to catch up on the comments tomorrow.  Right now I'm going to go play

If it makes you feel any better, lj seems to hate me too. I tried to post a comment close to 20 minutes ago-- hit post comment, and then went to a different tab to look at something else. Clicked back because I noticed it was taking rather a long time, and, lo and behold, it gives me an error message talking about squids. I kid you not.

And I quote: blah blah blah error stuff html code... "encountered problem. zero sized reply. Squid did not receive any data for this request." blah blah blah.

So, I'm trying again. But if you get this message like three or four times, I apologize. I hit retry a few times before giving up, and deciding to attempt posting from a new window.
Here goes nothing!

...Oh, that reminds me- I had a question. Today in my lit. class we read Yeats, and one of the poems we read, "The Circus Animals' Desertion", references "that sea-rider Oisin", first of the old themes Yeats is enumerating [we didn't read the original Yeats poem about Oisin though... it isn't in the book. but I am tempted to go and find it now]. And my professor pronounced it [oisin] differently each time... so I was wondering how YOU pronounce it.

just wondering. I know that the poem itself is the important thing, and what a marvelous thing it is!-- but I thought I might ask you, in light of the fact that you use it here to refer to your piano teacher. [see the connection- piano playing- my class this morning- pondering- blog entry- random question. yay.? i'm not crazy, I promise. And it all made sense it my head, at any rate!] :)

so yeah. aargh to lj general attitudinal obstropolous unhelpful aggravating behaviour. (misbehavior, more like!)

Roughly: OY-zin. I have NO idea if this has any basis in correctness.

I've heard it pronouned Oss-yen, or Osh-yen.

I've heard it as 'Oshin' . . . I just don't LIKE it much. :)

First he said something like "Wa-zin or Oa/szin", but then he said Oossin. And then something else that I can't recall. But he IS from Australia, and there is definitely an accent that creeps in occasionally. Maybe that has something to do with it too.

Interesting, the variations.

And I agree with you. I don't like 'Oshin' terribly much either.
Just doesn't sound right in my head.
