I hope it decides to give up on you and leave you to enjoy this lovely spring weather

I third the hellhounds - go to bed and look after yourself (and take them :))

I know, I'm english, I apologise now, but I've never heard of Peg Bracken (or Charles Booth, Fireside Theatre etc etc) and I'm having great fun finding out about all these cultural icons.
Have to get the book with illustrations by Hilary Knight - Eloise was my heroine and is now my daughter's :)

Oh, the Gallery of Regrettable Food! How can you not love it!! The problem is I grew *up* on a lot of this stuff . . . which could explain a lot!! Invalid food! Oatmeal gruel! Yesssssss! I wonder if she's nailed tuna casserole with creamed spinach and (tinned) french fried onion rings????

I just saw the photo of sausages standing upright in a sea of beans - tell me this never happened, please!
