Thirty nine days and thirty nine nights and counting

GODS, DEMIGODS, AND SMALL THINGS THAT LIVE UNDER TOADSTOOLS, I AM SO SICK OF THIS FRICKING WEATHER.  Last night walking, or rather sloshing, home from tower practice-which takes all of about a minute and a half-I was thinking, if I had any food in the house I’d ring Peter and say I wasn’t coming.  Levering somnolent hellhounds out of their warm ( Read more... )

I just got here again in the wee hours--my husband is sleeping, the dog is sleeping, and with luck neither of them will wake up and wonder why I am on the computer instead of asleep or packing. I'm going to Mass. primarily to see my 98-year-old aunt. But I have reserved one day to go see the Alpha Bitch's breeder and talk about a very potential puppy. And I'll get to Baltimore to see a good friend on my way home, so if the weather doesn't give me too much grief, it should be a good trip. My husband is staying home to dogsit, which means I can have opera and audiobooks on the road.

The pizzas were Italian sausage for my husband and kalamata olives, roasted peppers, and goat cheese for me. I am working on a crust/baking time combo that I hope will approximate what I get from my Neapolitan wood-fired pizza restaurant--tough to do in a home oven, but it's getting better. Baking stones helped. I will get in some Italian-style flour from King Arthur and keep trying.

Missed Ernani today because we were picking up the car, then I had to start exploring the car so I know how its little bits work before I hit 70 mph on the interstate. You think buying a new computer is bad . . . There are a few high-tech features that will have to wait until I get home and have more TIME.

Lord yes, Flanders and Swann, and the rest of them you mentioned too. There are routines of Peter Cook and Dudley Moore that I know by heart and still don't want to play in the car because I laugh so hard I can't see.

I was HOPING there might be a puppy involved. :)

Baking stones--yes. Suddenly I was making real pizza again (even tomato- and cheese-free) when I did it on a stone.

********** Yes. [suppressing quote a few . . . ] :)

Ahha! Now I remember. Lovely dogs, Danes; on my wish list (harlequin, blue, or black with white markings [can't remember the technical name, but like a dutch rabbit] ... but not while I still have eleven dogs already :)
