It's all Richard Wagner's fault

It’s much later than it should be.  And it’s all Richard Wagner’s fault.  Tonight’s Live from the Met was Tristan and Isolde.  I find Wagner a little trance-inducing:  all those big voices going at one another hammer and tongs.*  And going and going and going, hammering and tonging.  And you know that, of course, what is the single thing everyone ( Read more... )

Die Frau is kind of amazing, but it needs a good production.

High protein diets are well documented to make some dogs hyper so extra starch they can tolerate is gooood. It can have a calming effect, but you may not have seen much evidence of that LOL

************ I suddenly don't even want to THINK about a high protein diet.

Been fighting lj's scrapbook and did upload some pictures, but they're not organised how I wanted and they seem sort of small (puzzled frown) so I spent ages messing...

*********** Where are they?!? Couldn't find them, but I know that's me being stupid.. . .

**How** many dogs do you have???

Stupid lj (blows raspberry) - pictures appear if you go to scrapbook and hit recently updated. They do come up larger but you haver to click until they do. (I will win, I will win). Not all my dogs & cats (none of the ponies) are there yet, but it is a start :) (whispers) I've got 11 dogs (looks shifty).

Current dogs in the pictures so far are Noodles, Hazel & Elsa so only 8 more to go :)

ELEVEN!!!???!!!?! ***ELEVEN*** DOGS??!!!!!!

[goes away and lies down for a while. comes back]

And by the photos (which I EVENTUALLY found, no thanks to lj, not a mention of a scrapbook in sight, except mine, which is empty) I assume they all live in the house with you!!???!!!!!! (Oh, the ENNEAD! I love Jan Mark!) And if those are MINI bulls, what the heck are the MAXI ones like?!? I've *met* a few bull terriers . . . indeed they were on my short list when I was contemplating the possibility of a *dog* instead of another furry alien from another planet, because they're funny and charming and they're all George Booth dogs and I LOOOVE George Booth. But I was put off by the whole 'will eat other dogs for lunch' thing. I take it you've found a way to socialise them effectively?!?

( . . . muttering to herself . . . ELEVEN. I can't . . . I can barely . . . TWO are . . . aaaaugh. . . .)

I tell interested people that they need to be a masochist with a sense of humour to own a bully - so I can easily see the connection with hellhounds Hahahaha (hollow laughter!) (Mini as in half the weight - 40lbs rather than 80)

Yes, house dogs, in a hairy house; I am sh*t hot on socialisation, as a behaviourist, and my puppies get socialised until they are so used to everything that very little fazes them.

This is the website of one of my puppies, Hazel & Elsa's sister, gone to live in London http://www.oniondog.com/ She has been in a film, a pop video, line dancing, and now lives with two chickens... Mad!

Yes, Jan Mark is brilliant; isn't it funny how it is impossible not to scan other people's bookshelves? Not many people really seem to NEED books in their thousands, so loving the blog :)

George Booth??

You don't know George Booth!!!! Well, he may never have crossed the Atlantic. He's a cartoonist. And a lot of my favourite dog-containing cartoons are Booth's .. . and those are bull terriers. He also has an assortment of scraggy cats. I@m too sleepy to see if he's on the net somewhere . . . he MUST be . . .

Thank you! I found the New Yorker and some of the George Booth bullies - love the christmas one where the dog has stolen santa's outfit. So well characterised, George obviously loves his bull terriers.

Drat! Another reason to crouch over my steaming computer for hours...

I'm going to try & do some canine video clips a la jmeadows, but since I've only just uploaded non-moving pictures, it may not be just yet.
