Last night, around midnight, I was leaving New Paltz and before I had gotten really out of the downtown area, I saw some large dogs running across the street in front of me. A moment later, they were joined by a third and I realized they were actually deers. Deers running around on main street. "WTF," I thought.
Then, a couple miles outside of town, I saw another dog on the side of the road. But no! It was also not a dog. It was a coyote. I whipped around to keep him in my headlights and he ran toward the bushes. A minute later, I came across yet another coyote. I very rarely see coyotes. Probably only twice before. I kind of wish I had gotten out to chase them. However, they were larger than I really felt that they should be.
Simpsons quote of the afternoon: "And that talking coyote was really just a talking dog."
