“Tell us about the forest!”
“Yeah, tell us about the forest, please, granddad!”
The man once known as Allan A Dale leaned on his spade. He had been wondering, this summer, if he would see next year. There was an ache in all his bones now; when the cold got into them it was brutal. He supposed he should be grateful - when he was with Robin he had never thought he would last this long. You didn’t make plans, when death could be waiting around the corner. But it had turned out you couldn’t cheat it after all. “Maybe later.”
