Fingernails

[WARNING: This entry is not about important world events, real emotions, or anything else remotely worth your attention, unless you have an appearance-obsessed superficial side.]

I need to figure out what to do about my fingernails for my sister's wedding.

I normally keep my fingernails cut down as far as I possibly can without drawing blood. I do that to avoid waking up with huge scratch marks on my arms and face from where I attacked my eczema.

Normally I don't care that my fingertips aren't feminine or beautiful, but apparently I do care about all the details in a polished (pun intended, I guess) look for my sister's wedding. Moreover, I know bridesmaids often get manicures together shortly before the wedding, not just as an XX bonding ceremony, but because they think their hands will get attention at the ceremony and in photographs because they will be holding bouquets.

So here are my options:

1. Suck it up and acknowledge that if I feel attractive now with short fingernails I should feel attractive at my sister's wedding with short fingernails.
Advantages: Easy, emotionally healthy.
Disadvantages: But I don't wanna!

2. Get fake fingernails.
Advantages: I don't have to change anything until shortly before the wedding, and they might last until Carrie's wedding one week later.
Disadvantages: Cost, disability, my suspicion they will actually start falling off around the champagne toast.

3. Attempt to grow my fingernails in such a way that I can't destroy my skin with them; that is, keep sharp edges filed down and use polish.
Advantages: Essentially free, probably will look the best.
Disadvantages: Effort, high probability of failure, risk of destroying my skin.

Any suggestions?
