Yes, I'm aware of at least two organizations who have been working to scan and preserve our fanzine history. Several other organizations have also written asking me to "donate" these items to their collegiate archives or collections. I have conflicting thoughts on this. While I want them presrved, scanned and shared with the fan community and broader world, I'm frankly not ready to just let them go. I won't make it to Renovation this year, but I'm definitely planning to do Chicon next year. My hope is to meet some very trustworthy fan involved with fanac.org or one of the other organizations involved in online preservation and arrange to loan out some of the material for scanning.
Steven Silver has also suggested the possibility of putting some of this on special display at Chicon.
Meanwhile, I'll do what I can to share as much of this history as I can in as many venues as I can. I've only just recently begun to "excavate" the boxes and boxes of stuff that Diana and I've collected during 40-plus years as a fan. I don't even know yet what all I've got. It's an amazing process of discovery. And why not? It's an amazing family I've accumulated over the years. I'm glad you and George are part of it.
