OOC: Not Back Yet

Miranda's player is still too busy to play, alas.  While I'm away, however, I thought I would induge my vanity by posting a Miranda music playlist.

These tracks vary in terms of their Miranda-ness; many of them are lyrically appropriate, some of them are musically appropriate, and some of them are just thematically appropriate.  They all share one similarity, though: whenever I hear them now, I think of Miranda.

In alphabetical order:

Kate Bush, "The Red Shoes" (from The Red Shoes).  Up until well into the character's existence, this encapsulated her almost perfectly. It still does a pretty good job.

Concrete Blonde, "Run Run Run" (from Free).  A/K/A "Miranda: The Early Years, Volume 2."

Conjure One featuring Poe, "Center of the Sun" (from Conjure One).

Cranberries, "Dreams" (from Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?).  Everyone deserves one sappy love song.  And if you choose to hear the first line as self-deprecating humor, you're not wrong

The Cure, "Boys Don't Cry" (from Boys Don't Cry).  Like you didn't see this one coming.

The Decemberists, "We Both Go Down Together" (from Picaresque).

The Farm, "All Together Now" (from Spartacus). Why, yes, Miranda's political beliefs are deeply confused. Also, I gather this is a very popular football song in the UK.

The Flash Girls, "Knickerbocker Line" (from The Return of Violet Smith and Pansy Jones).  Miranda has been a flash girl, but not a flash girl, if you see what I mean.

Levellers, "Julie" (from Levellers).

Machines of Loving Grace, "Butterfly Wings" (from Concentration).

Nine Inch Nails, "Something I Can Never Have" (from Pretty Hate Machine).  We all talk to ourselves, we just don't all get Trent Reznor to write our dialogue.

Rasputina, "Momma Was an Opium Smoker" (from Frustration Plantation). A/K/A "Miranda: The Early Years, Volume 1."

Red Joy Reid, "Cricket" (from Future Love).  I can't find any place to listen to this one, sadly.

Jane Siberry, "All The Candles In The World" (from When I Was A Boy).  YouTube only has a remix.  The original is better.

Tracey Ullman, "They Don't Know" (from You Broke My Heart In 17 Places).  Sometimes multiple personality disorder isn't just sad and tragic; sometimes it's also funny.

Tom Waits, "In The Colosseum" (from Bone Machine).  Along with the next one, this gives a pretty good idea of her perspective on the royal family.

XTC, "Dear God" (from Skylarking).  Don't get any ideas, Corwin.
