Now In Stores: Pathfinder GameMastery Guide

Jun 29, 2010 09:20

The author roster for Paizo’s Pathfinder GameMastery Guide is an epic list of names I’m proud to be a part of. One one hand, I don’t want to play favorites. On the other, the list is way longer than I have time to type right now. While it doesn’t include every luminary of contemporary roleplaying writing, it can certainly claim a significant percentage.

I’ve contributed to a number of GMing books over the years. This time around I got a new topic to tackle, which was a refreshing change of pace. The pieces aren't credited by author, as is typical for a book woven together from many contributions. The sharpest-eyed style analysts out there might be able to catch my mannerisms at work in an section you might not expect.

GM books always walk a tightrope between serving the urgent needs of new gamers and suggesting new wrinkles for the hardcore graybeards. Wesley Schneider and the full Paizo team have done a fine job of striking that balance. In keeping with its fidelity to the 3.5 tradition, the hefty, gorgeous tome presents a mix of crunch and advice.
