Home Art Gallery: North Wind on Puget Sound

A few years ago in the Stonington Gallery in downtown Seattle, Lisa loved the looks of this painting of Native American canoes by Bill  Holm. I faked disinterest, saying "Yeah, it's OK," when I actually loved it. I knew that it would mean even more to Lisa, since those were the Olympics looming beyond the wind.  We wandered out of the gallery and went to a coffeeshop. And a few days later I drove downtown and bought the print.

Five weeks later I gave her the painting for our anniversary. A perfect gift and I'd faked her out entirely. She had no idea that I'd liked or even really noticed the print.

Now it hangs at the foot of our bed, the first thing we see in the morning.
