But at least it's only for two days. Preparations are underway for the visit of Flip at the end of the week, and I'm busy thinking of places to go. So far I've come up with:
* Friday afternoon: A boat trip down the River Taff to the Bay, whilst there a scout of Who/Torchwood locations - Roald Dahl Plass, the Milennium Centre, the quayside - plus a chance for a meal at one of the retaurants the Doctor ate at in "Boom Town"! There's also the wetlands, and if you really fancy it, Flip, the Who exhibition at the Red Dragon Centre.
* Saturday: Cardiff Centre first, in case you want to do a bit of shopping (and showing you the Torchwood locations along the way - the nightclub from "Day One" etc etc). Then down to Penarth (family home of singer Jem!!!) and the sea front, plus the Paget Rooms (where I do my acting stuff; and which also featured in Torchwood's "Small Worlds"). Then across to Barry and the Knap, and on to Southerndown, where Rose said her tearful goodbyes. Only if you fancy a lot of sea air, mind! ;)
* Sunday morning: Maybe a walk in Bute Park (which masqueraded as Central Park in "Daleks in Manhattan!!!"), or if you fancy a drive, up to Caerphilly Mountain (lovely views over Cardiff and the Bristol Channel) and Castell Coch (where my brother got married).
If any of this doesn't appeal, Flip, please let me know! I also promise not to talk about Doctor Who and Torchwood if you would prefer! ;)
In other news... Big night tomorrow night, as a selected few are meeting to read "Sextet". So I get the chance to hearhow the other potential actors do in the roles. There are ominous murmerings about whether the set can be achieved - although I do have a few ideas how some corners can be cut.
And I'm really enjoying the latest album from Clare Teal ("Paradisi Carousel") - especially the album title song. Clare has a low velvety voice that sends shivers up the spine in a way that no singer has done for me since Karen Carpenter. Her style and songs are, it has to be said, very similar to Karen Carpenter's - although, unlike Karen, she's from Yorkshire! The album's a mix of her own compositions and covers such as "Light Flight" and "Breakout", and is really worth listening to. She also has her own website and blog, if you're interested in finding out more, and Clare coms across as a really nice person:
