I just watched the Ice Storm...I had been meaning to for a long time, but I'm glad I got around to it on a rainy day like today. That and the Are You Afraid of the Dark Tape I stole from Blockbuster have really gotten me in the mood for fall. Fall is so addictively creepy and sad and for some reason that draining feeling is so real and alive and intense and I love every second of it.
On The Ice Storm: At First I was under the impression that the movie was made in 1986, so I was baffled at how Tobey Maguire could play a college student then...and STILL play one in 2004 (SpiderMan). Also shocking was how Christina Ricci took so long to grow up if like 8 years later she played Wednesday in Addams Family. Elijah Wood was in it...but unsuprisingly, he looked exactly the same. Also a young Katie Holmes made an appearance too. So I was absolutely shocked at how all these people were teenagers in the late 80s. Soon after I realized I was a decade off and the movie was made in 1997. That was a huge relief. The acting was amazing and the production design (set in the 70s) was really cool to see. Sigourney Weaver's make-up and character reminded me of those cold pictures of Ice Queens Liz puts in her livejournal. That really dark eye lid look. And she held a whip in the movie...Sigourney Weaver with a whip is just too much for this kid to handle...my boss and friend just walked by...and it was really awkard interaction....anyways god that was awkard....but the Ice Storm was really great because it was just one of those well done emotionally intense movies that make you just love Acting on Film.
