Translation to post the spam upon this sexy article...
I filter my comments because I get spam. You probably do too if you're an LJ member. Spammers have been posting in Russian and other foreign languages for a long time. I guess the idea is that if the blogger can't read it, the blogger won't realize it's spam and knock it out.
I'm not getting paid to host ads.
Anyway, I mentioned that I don't read or allow comments that aren't in English. I don't read Russian or Spanish or any of the variety of languages spam gets posted in. I can't retain a foreign language unless I'm practicing every day. I'll retain it exactly the duration of the course. I've learned and lost seven or eight languages in some twenty tries.
Here's part of my very next spam:
"Welcome aboard av rental software?"
"When i was at my last journey toward Barcelona I met Jackie on my route.
This individual informed my person, he was free to buy a new Software
here this Computer Store close to the turn. Right, what a coincidence, I
was in this area to take off in the direction of this identical
stockroom, but intended for a various motive. We both determined that we
walk off organized, subsequently we may provide recommendation to one
another. In this day and age I seldom buy Computer programs in the depot..."
A slightly less obnoxious product, event planning software. Still way off topic to me. But they're trying.
I now also have a good idea how I'll sound if I use translation software to talk to people in San Francisco. I quoted it because it's hilarious. It's a typical sales pitch slowed down to an awkward precision with poor word choices. Translated buzz words and sales phrases sound so loony! Later in it, a smiley was replaced with (grin at this time). Either that or instructions to a sales rep reading the script got included in the translation!
It's a bit like the apartment rental scammer saying "Oh no! I can't give you my bank account, last time I did that I almost went to jail!"
Kudos to translation software. I'll sound silly and ignorant but at least I'll get across what I have to say in an atrocious accent. That may be enough for a South American or European tourist to choose the painting they want and pay for it. I've heard there's an app for that. Anyone know what category "Translation" apps fall in at the Apple App Store or hear of a good one?
