I reviewed these pencils at my new art supply review blog: Derwent Coloursoft review and had to have a good example showing what the pencils can do. I've had the full range for several years now, but I got a set of twelve in my review goodies package. So I decided to test the smaller range.

Whoohoo, I can recommend the 12 color tin without reservation, you can mix anything with it. They rock. I liked them all along, now I've written them up. I might do a HubPages article on the process too since I scanned stages on it.

I painted this from life, just put two marbles and an aquamarine crystal on the shiny touchpad of my laptop so they wouldn't roll away. Six hours later I had the largest colored pencils marbles painting I've ever done, and I'm very happy with it. I used some color tricks from my pastels class and recent pastel painting to make the gray a lot more sparkly. Definitely one to frame and hang.
