Hibiscus Buds
Pitt Artist Pens on 8 1/2" x 11" wirebound ProArt sketchbook, from life. Sascha got to go riding this morning on Brownie the Welsh Pony with her mom guiding the pony, so she's all happy and excited. She and Karl brought me a stem of big fat red hibiscus buds with dinnerplate size flowers on the bush. He was hoping I'd do some time-lapse sketching if the bud does open in water. Looks a little droopy but it's got plenty of water. There's a purple coneflower in the same vase with it.

That's the first thing I drew today. But yesterday after I finished the Barn Swallow, I did some other sketches from the WDE reference photos posted by JustChaos on WetCanvas.com for July 3-5th weekend drawing event. I sketched the first five animal photos in Pitt Artist Pens, then later on yesterday Sascha came home from getting to see the horsies and brought me an unusual double orange daylily and the purple coneflower, which I sketched from life. I'm loving those pens, they're so great for quick sketching.

All in the Pitt pens in the same sketchbook as today's. Going to sketch some more of the WDE photos before starting in on some serious renderings -- and doing another article today for my 21 article challenge for my site. So I will be posting more unless I get really sick this afternoon!
