Red Rose, White Butterfly is another ACEO watercolor for Lauren! I finally did one with a flower. I nearly didn't put the butterfly in because I liked the white space, but it eventually worked to do a white or nearly-white one defined by its shading and lighter than either the rose or the leaves. I love how this came out. In person, the red is exactly the blood red shade of the one that grows outside our front door that Kitten took the reference photo from.

I did two sunsets, a sunrise and a lighthouse too, but I'll post them later after I post them on eBay. I'm starting to feel a bit sleepy and might not be posting those till tomorrow. Also I need to make some prints and post them tomorrow for Cat Ass Trophy, the award so many deserving felines should not have to do without! Lisa had other things to do tomorrow night so she came over tonight and I painted a lot, experimenting with so many techniques.

The freaky cool thing is that I went back to what I used to do and did not sketch under any of the paintings. Not just the loose wet in wet sunsets but the finicky detailed lighthouse and this rose, all created just by looking at the subject and painting directly. I'm glad that's easier now.
