Art again!

ACEO Ruby Throated Hummingbird was interesting to do. I went back to the six color Coloursoft sample set that I got ages ago as a freebie with the 24 color set. I flipped through my Birds sketchbook, found one I'd done of a ruby throated hummingbird and worked from my sketch instead of a photo reference. I did a lot of different things with the background and fooled around with it, and like this version too a lot. It's not as precise as some of my colored pencil art, though I did burnish most of it with the Derwent Colourless Blender, and a little with the Derwent Burnisher, I left some white areas unburnished and the lightest twig only loosely burnished to contrast texture. It came out a lot wilder looking for being against those shadowy branches and leaves in what must be a little patch of sun, than if I had it out in a bright garden sipping at flowers. I may do more birds again sometime.
