Today's daily art

ACEO NFAC Tree Frog is actually titled Caught in the Light, but that's not keyword-stuffed enough for an eBay title. It's actually brighter than the scan by quite a bit, though I played with the saturation some, the scanner picked up some of the complementary underpainting and turned the orange eyes to magenta when I pushed the color saturation up evenly 100%, so I fooled with it a little differently. It's a little brighter green than it looks, and very rich. I like how the shimmering soft gray shadows on his white belly look in life too, they have all hues of pale color mingling to make that gray like an Impressionist painting.

My feedback on eBay is now 103 thanks to my sale and to eBay reorganizing how they count feedback, repeat feedback from the same buyer does count if it's at least a week between feedbacks. Er, between purchases, not from when you decide to give feedback. So I am safely in the vast masses of non-Power Sellers now and have at least normal visibility.

And the NibbleFest Art Contest is the once a month on the 20th that I post whatever I do for a 99 cent minimum bid even if it's a full burnish colored pencil painting done with the same techniques I used on Robert's Marbles. Here's your chance at a smaller piece of colored pencil insanity.

I have been caught up in art and ebay selling for a while now, and the book has lagged, also my back has been seriously hurting. It's arthritis and maybe it's just that I keep marginally overexerting now that spring has gotten cool -- anytime I feel at all better, I wind up pushing it and doing as much as I can till it hurts. Not as badly as some years but I still do that to myself. Spine is really hurting tonight, and though I'm taking my meds it's still annoying when I want to write.

Everything I had planned for my book on realism got turned inside up and disrupted by the good new book I read. I feel like I have to assimilate those lessons to do my Colored Pencil Realism Workbook justice, and I have to do a lot in different ways in it. I will be touching on more than the full burnish colored pencil painting though, because I still like working fast on colored paper and doing textured colored pencil drawing too. Eh, it's not like I have a deadline for this thing. It'll be done when it's done. I'm only ten days away from starting a June novel and that is going to be extremely cool.
