I removed today's drawing on the horrifying discovery that I could not find the permission note from the photographer. I don't DO copyright infringement. So I've dropped a note to the photographer to clear this up, and will repost it if all's well. Or not, if the photographer would rather I didn't. I already removed the eBay auction, that was thankfully simple -- they know people might lose or damage the item sold.
Major stress. It bothered me a lot that this happened. It's the fog, and if it turns out that the note was just so long ago I didn't manage to dig it out, then, well, all's well. I should stick to the photographers I know well and not to someone that I've got only one or two images in my Favorites. Ironically, there was a better reference just one page away from that one with a note from that photographer who couldn't wait to see the results. So either way I'll be doing that one.
A friend advised me to put "something like Robs Art" into the titles of my auctions along with noun descriptive keywords. So I started putting Robs Art into all the titles, it was shorter than robertsloan2.
And lo, I did a search on eBay and all that comes up for Robs Art is my art, which rocks. So that's my new keyword searching-thing, that's how to steer people to see all that I've got up on any given day. Just search on Robs Art and you will see it all.
That's pretty neat. Good thing it's in my keywords here too. I should put it into every post that has art on it whether I auctioned it yet or not, if someone wants it and doesn't see it yet they can always note me to find out when/if it's going up. And any Not For Sale piece that gets requests, I will at least do prints of it.
My check got deposited today and I did the month's shopping. I bought HeraldoftheAbyss his present, the "Mowgli" print for Mission Wolf from deviantART member sidneyeileen -- it's a $100 print and all the proceeds go to support Mission Wolf, which is where the alpha wolf Mowgli with his unusual markings lives. She donated the original to Mission Wolf too, to sell or display or whatever they want to do with it, probably display I would think. Signed limited edition prints.
Mowgli for Mission Wolf.
I bought my dinosaur book from Amazon, silly thing goes for $150 but I got a good used copy for $21, which makes me happy, and a $5 pastel book, used.
I picked up some art supplies from ASW that I've been waiting for, craving or needing -- the 24 color Sakura Koi pocket box because I use the 12 color one so much it's wearing down, it's my "I'm in the mood for swift Asian style art" watercolor set because of its waterhandle brush and clean bright colors. I tend to mix on the paper with that one, as opposed to noodling around mixing and glazing with my Winsor & Newtons.
I finally after years got the Marie's Chinese Watercolors to honestly find out if they are that different from regular watercolors, they're affordable compared to all the other sets of Chinese watercolor out there and certainly authentic, Marie's is a Chinese company. I finally got the Creative Mark Micro Mini brush set, including several pointy three-hair looking brushes, because I've been doing too many miniatures not to use miniature brushes. I'll get more detail.
I replaced my porcelain flower palette because I've hauled that poor thing around since the early 1980s and it is so old that I literally wore out the bottom of the pans, they are no longer glazed but very rough from scrubbing! And I finally got the 24 color set of Derwent Aquatones that I've drooled at, well, for years since I saw some in Minneapolis when
MplsVala bought some at a real store individually.
All the items were in stock. The order went through. The page to check on the order and find out the shipping date was crashed on the website. Ow ow.
The page that says it's been processed is there. The page the link leads to gives an error message and says an email has been sent to their support staff. Oh well. At least when I got the email confirmation I didn't get a problem like several years ago when the sale prices in the catalog didn't show on the site -- the prices were all accurately sale priced, as four out of five items were on sale -- only the porcelain palette I needed for inks wasn't on sale, but that was only $3.99 so it wouldn't have been much different.
And that is so it for December, now happily broke but for the mailing-to-Australia money that's actually in pocket in cash, and enough reserve in the bank to cover ebay fees and the bargains I bid on there, a couple of bargain ACEOs, one from a kid and one from a friend who is doing a huge Christmas sale on some gorgeous OSWOA® and ACEO art. I bid on ten of her penny items and all but one have zoomed, so I'm glad her sale served its purpose. Much as I love her art I'd have felt like a robber if I'd wound up with the pile of them.
So that's it for the holiday season... I'm tight but sound, life's good, and I've got the supplies I need for what I'm doing at the moment plus a couple of specialty things I just wanted for years and meant to pick up on sale sometime. It's the usual annual ASW giant holiday sale and I didn't even try for a big free shipping order, getting a couple of those long awaited items was enough this year. Now hopefully the order will go quick, it'll arrive in reasonable time and nothing in it will be damaged or substituted.
