More fun from the commentary track: JB says he's the only one who isn't ever cold on these shoots, because not only does he have to wear the great big coat, he's allergic to wool, so he has to wear extra layers to keep the coat from touching his skin.

What time of year do they film, anyway? Back in January or around there, right? Do you know how cold it gets in Britain in January? I'm always a little amused that the instant the cameras are off, everybody runs for the big coats, even Tennant, who's got a pretty big coat for himself. However, I had no idea how cold it actually gets in Britain during the time they're filming. I'm used to horror stories from other sci fi shows like Trek and Farscape, which related mostly to heat, being shot in Southern California and Australia, respectively.

When John came in to start filming "The Empty Child," he said, it was just before Christmas and everyone wanted to go home for the holiday. So I think, for DW and TW, they do most of the filming in the winter and early spring.

When I was in London in 2000, it was late March and it was okay in the city, but once you hit open space, like a park even, it was freakin' cold out. Plus, Cardiff is on the water.

There was a vicious cold snap last December in London, right around Christmas-time. Even some snow.

Wasn't last year too the year of the immense, incredible heatwave in London and the rest of England. I seem to recall a journalist discussing the conditions on buses and it being quite something else. And last year too was all the flooding, right? GB just can't catch a break.
