"Ghost in the Machine"

As promised, here is my little evaluation of last week's episode of Ghost Whisperer.  Better late than never.
Whoa!  I expected a (I'll admit it) cheesy attempt at creating a side storyline in a desperate attempt to incorporate technology and, in doing so, attract a larger younger audience.  While some of that may have happened, I must say that I could not have been more impressed with what actually amounted to a powerful episode dealing with the horrors of online communication and a whole new breed of predator ripped straight from today's headlines.  (OOh!  Forgive the cliche.)
I thought that the episode, as is always the case with Ghost Whisperer, was tastefully done.  I mean, the potential for trashiness or the temptation to become too graphic was there.  What I've always enjoyed about the show is its ability to address certain subject matter without going too far.  I only hope that it maintains its creative integrity without falling prey to ratings quests and the seemingly inevitable urge to please the disgusting masses.  I must say that the trailer for next week's episode seems to hint at some accident befalling poor Jim.  This is certainly designed to keep us all guessing as to who is going to "buy the farm," so to speak, (the ominous missing shadow) and continue to nag all of those hapless bloggers speculating on the precariousness of Jim's position.
My wife insists that Jim is not the one who is going to go.  I must agree.  That would be a rather bad marketing decision considering the popularity of character and the dynamic between Melinda and her husband which is integral to the development and pathos of the character.
This week should be rather interesting.  I love this.  It's been quite a long while since a television program has piqued and maintained my interest so that I genuinely care what is going to happen to its players.
Here's waiting for Friday!

can you see us?
