One reader told me that these are not really haiku. He is correct if you insist on the traditional Japanese style which begins with a reference to nature, usually indicating a season, and sticks to what one sees rather than what one thinks.

They are probably senryu. The basic difference between haiku and senryu is, haiku is written about season and nature, whereas senryu is about the ironies of life
~
I’ll probably keep calling them haiku.
